Today the public opinion that organic food is healthier than conventional food is stronger than ever. In this article we’re going to explain which aspect of organic food are actually healthier for consumers and sustainable for environmental.  Many recent studies show that organic food is better in quality compared to the same non-organic varieties.

Antioxidants tend to have more of an impact when they come from organic food. In fact, recent research suggest to prefer organic food to have a diet rich in antioxidants and with a reduce exposure to toxic heavy metals.

Farmers of organic food don’t use chemical pesticide. Often in chemical pesticide there are unnatural mineral which can be connected to a number of health problems. To be fair, many people choose to go organic to make sure what they eat and above all to protect children from toxins during their development years.

  1. Heart health and Immune System

Healthy fat is found in higher quantities in milk and meat of animals raised free range or cage-free. Healthy fat acid is important for the right heart working and cardiovascular protection. Also, in recent years, genetic modification are increased in food sector. Genetic modification is still in its stages, so the long-term effects on human health is undefined. Now, we know that the animal testing showed a reduction of immune system strength.

Non-organic food, above all livestock and feed houses, use antibiotics to feed animals: overdosing on antibiotics may compromised the normal immune system working. These are some healthy reasons because today people prefer organic food then conventional food, but that’s not all. Often consumers choose organic food because they believe that organic food tastes better than non-organic food. Furthermore, as harmful chemicals are not used soil – air and water pollution is considerably reduced, ensuring a safer and healthier world for future generations. At least, also animal welfare is another important aspect of producing organic products, because people feel happy that animals can have a respectable life.

 

In summary, people consume organic food because:

  1. They want eat no GMO’s products and food without pesticides and herbicides,
  2. They prefer higher quality food, better in taste and in nutrition values
  3. They look for less chance of food borne illness
  4. They care about animals life and environmental safeguard
