According to Warren Buffet, accounting is the language of business. It is not just about terminology, it is more about that internal grammar which regulates a company’s daily activities. The functions performed by our accounting department serve as the basis for all financial business communication within our organization: this is why we hired professionals who are literally accountable for their tasks and responsibilities. Chiara Orsetta Antonioli is one of them.
Before joining Alifood in 2013, Chiara Orsetta already had seventeen years’ work experience -gained in two important companies – that strengthened her knowledge and reinforced the accounting skills that she developed during her studies. Precise and reliable, she usually comes to the office by train and she invests the time of her morning walk from the station in planning the activities of the day ahead.
Besides keeping an accurate record of our accounts, she handles our clients/suppliers bookkeeping, deals with the banks and sorts all the relevant paperwork. A big fan of numbers, always busy with invoices and bank statements, Chiara Orsetta really enjoys when she manages to balance the books. Her fluency in English and French makes her also very fast and accurate in answering our clients’ requests.
“A day without a smile is a day wasted” is her motto and she truly uses it as a rule of behavior, even in the office. When she needs to relax, Chiara Orsetta loves taking long walks in nature.
Acting as the focal point between international demand and local supply entails having in place an organization that functions perfectly, almost around the clock. Ours is structured around three main business units: Commercial, Logistics and Administration. If the activities of the first two revolve around our clients’ specific needs in order to match them with customized solutions, the latter is made of professionals who coordinate and supervise our internal workflow.
Ilaria Oliva has been our Administrative Manager for fifteen years now. After graduating in Economics and Business Administration, she first joined our company back in 2003 for a six-months internship. After some important work experiences in other companies, she accepted our offer to join us again in April 2006 and she has been with us ever since.
Her remarkable precision and outstanding multitasking skills allow Ilaria to manage our administration, finance, HR and IT policies. She is in charge of our audits as well. Her distinctive hands-on attitude and 360-degree business vision lead her to be involved in many activities: from the daily management of accounting to the control of our corporate treasury. What she really enjoys now is implementing new business intelligence processes that help us streamline our tasks and our overall performance.
Combined with her working knowledge of Spanish, Ilaria’s perfect fluency in English – proven by all the international certifications she gained while continuing to study the language even after university – makes her a great focal point when it comes to handling direct relationships with our clients abroad. Curious and always willing to improve herself by learning something new, she is currently very much interested in green and sustainable ways of producing food.
Exporting the culture of the Italian way of eating has led our activities since 1997, when Alifood was founded. After almost 25 years in the business, we now have a portfolio of over 250 products that we export in 19 different countries across the world. In our organization the Export Manager – the professional that serves as an intermediary between our foreign clients and domestic suppliers – is an essential figure. Carolina Bassino is one of them.
After taking a diploma in Account and Product Management, Carolina took her first professional steps in her family business: a company operating in the footwear sector where she gradually gained such a significant expertise that she eventually left it to join another company in the fashion industry. Carolina first joined Alifood 15 years ago, during her training period in the commercial sector. Even though she initially opted for a career in the fashion business, she kept cultivating her passion for Italian food and her relationship with our team, that she eventually joined again at the beginning of this year.
“Keep improving yourself, never stop learning” is her motto and she consistently applies it to her daily working routine. A great team player, Carolina always welcomes her colleagues’ ideas and support. Enthusiast about her new role in our company, she is very much aligned with the dynamism it entails and always keen to help our clients in finding the best products that suit their needs. Her positive attitude, combined with her proficiency in English – gained by studying the language in several colleges in the U.K. and U.S.A. – allowed her to establish good relationships with all of them as soon as she took on the role.
According to Sun Tzu, a famous Chinese philosopher, the line between disorder and order lies in logistics. We very much agree with his statement and this is why our Logistics Department is the one that counts the largest number of professionals. Claudia Fretta, our Logistics and Document Department Specialist is one of them.
Trained as an accountant and business expert, Claudia joined Alifood back in 2012 after a couple of important work experiences in the logistics department of an import/export company first, then a shipping agency. When she started working with us, she was in charge of the vast majority of our logistics activities. As the team expanded, she specialized in document control and customs handling.
Her remarkable fluency in English, which she has kept studying since high school, and Spanish – her mum’s mother tongue – helps her streamline her relationships with our clients that she constantly supports with a problem-solving attitude. Precise and well organized, Claudia typically starts her working day by checking her e-mails in order to provide a timely response to any kind of query that she may receive; then she moves on to preparing all the necessary paperwork for our logistics department such as invoices, customs declaration forms, packing slips and so on.
“Always smile, even if it’s a sad one, for sadder than a sad smile is only the sadness of not knowing how to smile” is a quote by Jim Morrison that Claudia particularly likes: this is what she teaches to her two kids to whom she devotes her entire free time.
True to her favourite motto “Carpe Diem”, Francesca Fossati is great at seizing the moment: she did it a long time ago, when Alifood was at the very beginning, and she stayed with us for almost ten years. She did it again in 2014 when she joined our company for the second time, after other important work experiences. She keeps doing it every day now, bringing into her daily routine the remarkable capacity of always identifying the best option.
Francesca is our Logistics Department Specialist: she is in charge of selecting and managing the best logistics solutions for all our shipments. Considering that our goal is to offer a perfect service at the cheapest price available, she works hard every day in order to strike the perfect balance between our clients’ needs and allocated budgets.
Her thirty years’ experience in the import/export industry, together with her diploma in business consultancy and foreign languages, help her manage her hectic work days with the utmost professionalism. Precise and well-organized, Francesca usually starts her day by checking all her emails in order to provide a timely response to all the clients she deals with. Then she moves on to arranging all the shipments that – according to different needs and destinations – can either be road, sea or air freights. She is in charge of managing the entire process from quotations and bookings to tracking and invoicing. Thanks to her problem solving attitude, she always finds effective solutions to any complication that may occur.
Her ability in selecting the most cost-efficient options is very much appreciated by our clients as much as her fluency in English and her working knowledge of French and German. Very fond of travelling and a true music lover, Francesca has recently started a course to learn Japanese.
Henry Ford once said that coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, working together is success. Despite the passing of time, his idea of a well-functioning team still holds very true, especially for us. In order to implement our vision of providing a bespoke service in making healthy ingredients and great food accessible to everybody in the world, we constantly rely on a close collaboration among all our personnel. This is why we created a friendly work environment where successes are always shared.
With us since March 2008, Elisabetta Doria Lamba has witnessed many of them. Her degree in Molecular Biology first took her to the Genetics Laboratory of one of the major hospital hospital in Genoa where she worked for a few years; then, her passion for food made her take a turn in her career and join our team as one of our Export Managers. Fluent both in English and French – languages that she learned while living abroad – Elisabetta has great communication skills that allow her to easily transfer her passion for Italian food to the clients she assists. Always busy developing new projects that promote the made-in-Italy excellences abroad, Elisabetta never misses to find the time to support her colleagues in the back-office.
“If you want, you can!” is her motto and she literally sticks to it. Being in charge of the portfolio of our clients in Japan means that Elisabetta starts her working days early to compensate for the time difference: for this reason, her mornings are typically dedicated to talking to them on the phone, discussing orders, taking requests and updating them on all our new products. In the afternoons she is usually busy working alongside our suppliers and her colleagues in the Commercial Department, always trying to develop new, shared strategies that could improve both the pre- and the after-sale experience of our customers. A great connoisseur of wines, she is very much looking forward to expand the Italian wine knowledge abroad.
According to a famous quote by Simon Sinek “customers will never love a company until the employees love it first”. In our case, since the vast majority of our activities is based on good human relationships managed with professionalism, our personnel are the soul of our business and their attitudes translate into all the products and services we offer. This is why in Alifood we constantly work on improving our workplace and our internal procedures in order to create an environment that maximizes their retention rate.
Chiara Campanella has been part of our team since 2013 but she has known us – and we, her – for a long time because she used to work in the export office of one of our suppliers. Her university degree in Foreign Languages and Literature provided her with strong skills in English, French and German which Chiara speaks fluently; this ability, together with her significant background in food export, made her succeed in joining our company as one of our Export Managers. Extremely dynamic and with a proactive attitude, Chiara is in charge of managing the portfolio of our clients in the Middle East, Far East and part of South America. A great team player and a true food lover, Chiara is always up-to-date with the latest trends in the market which she gladly shares with her colleagues in all our departments.
“Always ready for new challenges” is her motto: when we could travel freely, this brought her all over Italy, scouting for new products to offer to our clients whom she also visited on a regular basis. Now that the pandemic is forcing us to limit our actions within the office space, she spends most of her time keeping in touch with the clients she looks after: she is always online or on the telephone answering their pre- and after-sales requests and – most of all – listening to their needs in order to always provide them with the best, personalized solutions. Meticulous and very well organized, Chiara is an important asset to us also in times of fairs and tradeshows. The empathy she brings into her daily work routine comes from one of her greatest passions which is travelling and discovering new cultures; the other one is experimenting in her kitchen all the recipes that she takes back home from her trips.
When we founded Alifood, back in 1997, we had this grand vision of setting up an export company of Italian food excellences that could manage the entire production and distribution process, “from field to fork”. Our strive for perfection soon led us to realize that a great vision would have been irrelevant without great products and great people: this is why, after so many years, we still carefully select all the producers we work with and we pay the same attention in selecting our food-enthusiast personnel.
Giulia Nuzzo has been with us for almost two years now. With a significant background in logistics, she was first hired to cover a maternity leave in our Logistics Department; when that temporary assignment came to an end, we decided to offer her a new position as part of the team in our commercial back office. Proactive and with a very flexible approach to her daily routine at work, Giulia is in charge of commercial offers and orders. She combines her perfectionism with a commendable level of empathy that allows her to offer the best solutions to our clients by approaching each one of them in a personalized way. Giulia speaks Italian, English and a little French; in her spare time she is currently attending a language school in order to improve this ability of hers.
“Do unto others as you would have others do unto you” is her golden rule and this makes her a strong team player, constantly supporting her front office colleagues with new, innovative solutions. Always meeting the deadlines, Giulia usually starts her working day by checking e-mails and internal notes in order to understand priorities and urgencies: her mornings are mainly dedicated to set her daily tasks so as to help her colleagues in streamlining their activities, then in the afternoon she is usually busy preparing all the necessary paperwork for the commercial department. Traditional Italian food is one of her two greatest passions; the other one is music, from which she takes that positive, regenerating energy she needs to face every day with a smile.
Steve Jobs used to say that great things in business are never done by one person, they are done by a team of people: this is why at Alifood we always select our personnel with the utmost care in order to guarantee the high-standard services that we have been providing to our clients since 1997. Being a word-leading trading company that markets Italian products also entails creating a team of international professionals who have both the expertise to understand the needs of different clients all over the word and the passion for the high-quality food produced in our country.
Our Export Manager, Nataliya Korneeva, perfectly fits this profile. Born and raised in Moscow, Nataliya moved to Italy ten years ago. An enthusiastic food lover since she was a child, Nataliya studied at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo (Italy) where she graduated in 2018. She has been with us ever since. As our Export Manager, Nataliya is in charge of dealing with a large number of clients worldwide and her personalized approach – she speaks four languages – is very much appreciated by them all. One of her main tasks is to assist them in developing new projects which aim at promoting high-quality Italian food abroad. Very committed to her job, Nataliya always strives for perfection, combining precision of execution with timely responses and a proactive behaviour.
Being a great believer in Forrest Gump’s motto according to which “life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you’re gonna get”, Nataliya makes of versatility one of her main strengths: she typically starts her working day early, dealing with urgent matters in the morning then she dedicates her afternoons to the development of new, creative projects which she really enjoys. Promoting Italian food excellences is one of her two greatest passions; the other one is travelling, because it allows her to discover new cultures and have a more structured vision of new, potential markets.
